Parking Lot Views
This is my daily view as I enter the school each morning. Most mornings, I am hustling into the school with a backpack, hot beverage, and a checklist that I want to start immediately crossing off. This is not a surprising scenario for any teacher, really. However, I faithfully met a parent walking his kids to school every morning which certainly gives me pause. Increasing absenteeism, student work refusal, and overall student anxiety are all some of the buzzwords thrown around a great deal these days in our schools and they are certainly a reality. These realities can become overwhelming at times if educators do not take pause. Educators need to recognize that as society continues to evolve, so do the realities of the classroom. These realities are no different than the realities of any other public-facing sector such as nurses, cashiers, or receptionists.
